I agree with you... well I'm not sure that Hofstede harboured colonial intentions but there's much to gain from cultural interchange... don't societies and organisations, when holding only one dominant view of the world, become sclerotic and unadaptable? I think there's a lot to learn from each and every culture :D

I agree with Hofstede's first statement, but not the second. The way the statement seems to flow, the second necessarily follows from the latter. I find it to be a rather colonial view of international business.

India used to be a very-commanded economy, which means that bureacracy procedures were rampant. After decades, at last they discovered that lots of interventionism and bureucracy harmed economic growth, so they started liberalising industries and procedures. I suspect however that old bureaucracy still remains in not-so-important (in quantitative terms) issues.

In the case of China I have to say that the visa application process was extremely fast. In fact, it took me to get the chinese visa 1/10 of the time I needed to renew my passport. BTW, you can get this visa at the consulate, or by mail.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/paintitblack/2439080330/" rel="nofollow">Where is the future going to be?</a>

Crazy world. Anyway I hope to see a cheap (free?) OS, stable, usable, with available software, and intuitive... But linux is still hard to use, mac is too expensive, and "windozen" is going insane. Meanwhile I'm going back to the paper and pen.

Best, Gabriel! :)

You know, it's different for you. I have to add the use of English, which lags me a bit, and the use of a different set of assumptions which makes it more difficult for me. Still I hope... :)

You're free to use it :) it's just a bit of common sense although it's always good to keep in mind... I keep reminding it to others once or twice every week LOL

Gabriel

It was just as stressful in Henley, though loads of us took the exam down the road in Henley, and then went to the Angel to unwind and discuss how badly we did on various questions.

Still, didn't find it too hard except for the fact that I get breaking my pens, and whoever marks mine will need a degree in handwriting.
